Sciatica
Sciatica Physiotherapy
Sciatica is a term used to describe irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve, often leading to pain that can travel from the lower back into the buttock and down the leg. It can vary from a mild, intermittent ache to more persistent or severe symptoms, sometimes accompanied by tingling, numbness, or weakness. We see this in both active individuals and the general population, and it can significantly affect your ability to train, work, sleep, and carry out everyday activities. While it’s often assumed to be a “disc problem,” sciatica is usually influenced by a combination of factors, including load management, spinal mobility, nerve sensitivity, and strength through the hips and trunk. Rather than just focusing on easing symptoms, we take the time to understand why your sciatica has developed and what is driving it for you specifically. That means assessing how you move, your activity levels, and how your body is coping with daily and training demands. From there, we build a clear, structured rehabilitation plan to reduce pain, calm nerve irritation, and restore strength and confidence so you can return to moving and training without fear of flare-ups.

Root Cause
Sciatica can result from various underlying causes. During the history and discovery phase of our assessment, we'll identify the factors contributing to your sciatica and provide guidance on how to prevent it from recurring.
Instead of focusing on just one area, we’ll evaluate your entire body and alignment in the initial assessment to gain a thorough understanding of your condition.
